Ozark Woodcrafters is located on a mountain top just outside of Bentonville Arkansas. All work is hand made and custom created by Steve and Robin Smith. Steve started carving in the late 1990's as a hobby which grew into a love of the art and craftsmanship. He refined his skills through a combination of self-teaching, and spending hours working with and learning from some of the most talented woodcarving and finishing artists in the Ozarks region. Growing up in the Southwest Missouri Ozarks was a great influence on his style, and that is evident in the oak leaves, barns, water, and wildlife that take shape in the designs he and Robin create. Robin began oil on canvas painting in the mid 1990's, and she has adapted that to wood. Robin has been blessed both with a lot of natural talent, and the opportunity to mentor with other great painting artists in the woodcarving world. Her addition of color allows the wood grain to still be seen, and really brings the carvings to life! While power tools are sometimes in use in their Bentonville studio, all work is 100% by hand. There are no CAD/CAM or CNC tools. The combination of Steve's carving style and Robin's painting style make their pieces truly unique. Add to this the old world style burnishing technique, and you have a custom designed, heirloom quality piece, that has a look that is somehow both new, and antique. It's a style that can blend seamlessly into a rustic home, as well as a modern space with ease. Steve and Robin are guest woodcarving artists at Valley Woodcarvers in Silver Dollar City, Branson, MO. Much of their work is on display for sale there, and they can be seen demonstrating in the shop several times during the normal operating season from May through December. Scheduled days in which they will be at Valley Woodcarvers as well as current project updates are available on their Facebook Artists Page available via the button below.
